AVB’s newest community, Whisper Rock, is off to a great start. We held our Grand Opening on October 23rd and have sold and closed on 14 condominium homes ranging in value from $278,000 to over $440,000. Six additional sites are under reservation.
Five model homes are under construction and will be completed in in the spring of 2017. These model homes will demonstrate our new and updated floor plans that range from 1,280 to over 2,000 square feet on the main level. We offer a wide variety of sites with views to our new 1.5 million gallon pond, wetlands and woodlands.

Kellogg Community Credit Union's (KCCU) new 4,500 square foot financial branch office on Drake Road, withinCorner@Drake, is open for business. AVB worked closely with KCCU to construct this new facility which features a contemporary open lobby with private teller pods, a call center, four conference rooms and a main office. The building is anchored by a tower featuring a contemporary glass corner that serves as the building’s main entrance.
This new branch has created several new jobs already, making it another positive influence in the Kalamazoo community. We are excited to welcome them to our Corner@Drake development.
Corner@Drake continues to progress. The new 20,000 square foot Corner Shoppes@Drake, fronting Drake Road, are almost complete. There has been strong interest in both buildings and we expect to have a rich mix of restaurant, retail, and other businesses represented in the new buildings. We still have a limited amount of space available, including in-line, end-cap, and drive through options. All offer great access to the entire Costco-anchored development.
The steel frame and cinder block walls are up at Old National Bank’s new regional headquarters and banking center on the corner of Century Avenue and Drake Road within Corner@Drake. This new regional office will be a great landmark and serve as a prominent gateway to the Kalamazoo community. The two story brick and stone building will feature 15,000 square feet of customer banking, loan offices and corporate regional offices. Old National Bank has a scheduled completion date for summer of 2017.

Starting this month, on select Sundays from 12-3 p.m., you will have the opportunity to tour the newest model in our Hidden Lake Community. This winter, take a scenic snowy walk through Kalamazoo College’s Lillian Anderson Arboretum and while you are enjoying the crisp winter air, stop by the new pavilion. AVB worked closely with Kalamazoo College to build this off-the-grid environmentally-friendly pavilion, equipped with solar tube lighting, solar panels to power the building and a composting toilet. The eight striking wood columns were harvested by oxen from the Lillian Anderson Arboretum grounds to preserve the natural landscape and to utilize the natural elements of the site.

To accomplish this, we use AVB PROCORE Cloudshare, a fully mobile software that allows for 24/7 communication and appropriate permission controlled access to project documents across a variety of devices. Through AVB PROCORE Cloudshare, our project teams and project owners are able to maintain, and access, all project records including meeting minutes, submittals, drawings, specifications and financial data, from any electronic device. We utilize AVB PROCORE Cloudshare from the point of project inception, through bidding, construction, delivery and closeout. We require and provide trade contractors access to appropriate project data through this portal and provide access to our design partners and clients, allowing for project communication to flow through a continuous open channel.
