A Game Opener to Remember: Mattawan’s New Stadium Unveiled at Home Opener

Just before kickoff at Mattawan Consolidated School’s first home game of the season, student athletes, cheerleaders, band members, and community leaders joined together to cut the ribbon on the brand-new stadium turf and track. The celebration marked the first major project completed through the district’s $110 million bond, approved by voters in May 2024.

Phase 1A of the bond brought significant upgrades to the stadium: a state-of-the-art turf field striped for multiple sports, a new track surface with expanded field-event areas, upgraded perimeter fencing for improved security and aesthetics, new sidewalks and pathways, and home bleacher renovations with expanded seating for the marching band.

Funded without increasing the community’s existing millage rate, the $110 million bond will continue transforming Mattawan’s campuses in phases—enhancing athletic facilities, improving parking and traffic flow, and modernizing academic spaces.

This milestone game night wasn’t just the start of a new season—it marked the start of a new era for Mattawan athletics and the entire community.

Western Michigan’s CommUniverCity Game

CommUniverCity 2025 at Western Michigan University was one for the books! Our team joined the sea of brown and gold for an evening full of good food, great company, and plenty of game-day energy as we cheered the Broncos on to a home-field win.

This annual tradition is all about bringing Western and the Kalamazoo community together—and it never disappoints. Between the campus pride, the lively crowd, and the Bronco victory, we couldn’t have asked for a better night.

Floor Hockey with WMU Hockey Player at 12th Street Elementary

AVB joined WMU Bronco Hockey player — and 2023 Winnipeg Jets draft pick — Zach Nehring for a visit to 12th Street Elementary, where he answered students’ questions about hockey and WMU’s National Championship and signed pucks.

The highlight? Playing floor hockey with a 4th grade class! The students had a blast learning, playing, and cheering along with Zach, making it a day to remember.

Career Fair Fun!

This September, our team had the opportunity to attend two career fairs: the Western Michigan University Engineering Expo and the Michigan State University Construction Management Career Fair. We enjoyed connecting with students, learning about their goals and passions, and sharing insights into what a career in our industry can look like. Engaging with future professionals is always inspiring and a reminder of the bright talent entering the field.
