At AVB, our passion is creating great places to live, work, and learn — and steel construction continues to play a vital role in how we bring that vision to life.
Steel framing offers distinct advantages for many of our clients, including design flexibility, long-term durability, and efficient construction timelines. Its strength supports expansive open spaces, complex architectural designs, and adaptable layouts that stand the test of time.
Throughout Southwest Michigan, our portfolio includes several examples of steel-framed construction that reflect both technical precision and architectural ambition. The Consumers Credit Union Headquarters in Kalamazoo features a dramatic glass and steel curtain wall system that defines its modern, light-filled workspace. The 650 Trade Centre Way office building in Portage demonstrates how steel can deliver both height and elegance within a tight urban footprint. And at FEMA Corporation, a steel-framed office addition seamlessly extends the company’s existing facility, enhancing functionality while maintaining operational continuity.
This month’s Steel Construction Month gave us the opportunity to spotlight these projects and many others that showcase the craftsmanship and coordination behind every steel structure we build. From design collaboration through completion, AVB’s experience with steel construction reflects our continued commitment to quality, innovation, and lasting impact in the communities we serve.
AVB’s partnership with Consumers Credit Union goes beyond the build. From the first branch at Corner@Drake to their landmark headquarters and newest Galesburg and Marshall branches, this long-standing relationship reflects shared trust, collaboration, and commitment long after move-in day.
Earlier this month, our team had the chance to visit the Trace, the new student apartments at Purdue University Fort Wayne where our crew is hard at work. We were given a thorough tour of the site, seeing firsthand the progress being made and the careful attention to detail that goes into every aspect of the project.
After the tour, we enjoyed dinner together, catching up and mingling with the team on the ground. It was a great opportunity to connect, celebrate the progress, and strengthen the relationships that make projects like Trace successful.
We are actively searching for a new Community Association & Land Development Coordinator and a Framing Carpenter who shares our passion, niche, and core values. We offer a vibrant company culture, competitive pay, and the best team players in town!
Thank you for your help spreading the word to your network and community!
