As the Owner’s Representative, AVB worked closely with the City of Portage to help make their vision to replace the oldest fire station in the city a reality. The City of Portage attained their goal when the City Council approved the construction of the new 18,000 square foot fire station. To kick off the construction of the new Fire Station No. 2, located of Oakland Drive, AVB helped them host a groundbreaking ceremony. Representatives from the City of Portage including the Portage City Council, the Mayor, Williams Architects, Hall Builders, & the dedicated team of Firefighters who currently serve out of the existing Fire Station No. 2 were all celebrating the new project at the ceremony. The new station will serve the most populated region of the City of Portage, including residential areas, apartment complexes, multi-story commercial buildings & significant retail facilities. The modern facility will feature four apparatus bays, an underground tunnel for confined space rescue training, a tower for elevated rescue training, as well as provide individual facilities & sleeping quarters for male & female firefighters. AVB partnered with Mrs. O’s Preschool to build their new school building in Portage. The team at Mrs. O’s were driven by the desire to create a preschool experience that focused on age-appropriate developmental learning balanced with academics, play, & structured activities. The 3,932 square foot preschool features two immersive classrooms equipped with their own coat cubby areas, an outdoor playground, three teacher offices & a common café between the classrooms. AVB used a prefabricated wall & structural framing system, which helped to successfully complete the new school on time for the 2019/2020 school year.
