Ever wonder what makes AVB tick? It all started with three delightfully simple rules from founders Joe Gesmundo and Daryl Rynd—the kind you can jot on a napkin (and rumor has it, maybe they did):
Build projects we’re proud of—ones we can drive by, smile, and feel that “psychic income” from knowing we’ve added something special to our community.
Keep it close to home—within 30 minutes, so we’re always connected to the places we help shape.
Make it fun—because if it’s not fun for our team, our partners, and our clients, it’s not AVB. And yes, we need to make a little money to keep the fun going!
As Daryl Rynd puts it:
“It had to be something we were proud of, had to be within 30 miles, something we could drive by and get what we call psychic income—not just the financial, but the psychic income. And it had to be fun.”
And Joe Gesmundo adds:
“Long after, hopefully if you’ve made a profit on a project, long after that’s gone, the psychic income that we get from seeing it, hearing about it, people talking about how neat it is to live there or shop there or work there, that’s what we look for.”
These principles are the secret sauce behind our passion for building great places to live, work, and learn, and they’re baked into our five core values: Do the right thing. Be client focused. Have a positive attitude. Be a team player. Be proud of what you do.
So here’s to more projects that make us proud, keep us close, and always bring a little extra fun because at AVB, psychic income is the best kind of profit!
