AVB’s relationship with Consumers Credit Union began with the construction of their Corner@Drake branch, a highly visible location that helped anchor a major retail

development in Kalamazoo. That successful collaboration laid the foundation for a trusted, ongoing partnership — one that continues to evolve with each new project. Since then, AVB has completed several key projects for Consumers Credit Union,

including:

• Corner@Drake Branch – A gateway location that established Consumers’ presence in a high-traffic retail corridor

• Woods Lake Branch– A modern, community-focused banking space

• West Main Branch – Designed for accessibility and member convenience

• Texas Corners ATM - Built for member convenience

• As well as the recently completed Galesburg and Marshall Branches

Project Highlight: Headquarters

In 2018, Consumers Credit Union selected AVB to serve as construction manager for their new 92,000 sq. ft. corporate headquarters at The Groves in Kalamazoo. Designed by HOK, the three-story facility features:

• A 43-foot-tall, 400-foot-long glass curtain wall spanning a 190-foot-wide valley

• A 236-car concrete parking structure integrated into the wooded landscape

• Flexible workspaces, including open collaboration zones, private pods, and a learning lab

• Wellness amenities like a fitness center, café, and walking paths

• Sustainable design with LED lighting and natural daylighting throughout

This headquarters consolidated nearly 150 employee from four buildings into one central hub — a bold investment in the future of Consumers Credit Union and the West Michigan community.
