AVB will serve as Construction Manager for The William Schma House, leading preconstruction and construction efforts for this 48-unit supportive housing development on a challenging brownfield site in Kalamazoo’s Edison Neighborhood. The team will play a critical role in coordinating construction activities alongside ongoing environmental remediation, including contaminated soil removal, vapor mitigation systems, and stormwater infrastructure. This work requires thoughtful sequencing, proactive risk management, and close collaboration with environmental consultants and regulatory agencies to safely transform a formerly industrial site into a viable residential community.
In addition to managing complex site conditions, AVB will oversee the construction of three residential buildings and associated community amenities, ensuring consistent quality, schedule adherence, and efficient trade coordination across the multi-building development. The team will provide cost control and value-driven decision-making within a layered public funding structure, while maintaining the project’s energy-efficient design and long-term performance goals. Through strong communication with project partners and a disciplined management approach, AVB will help deliver a high-quality, community-centered development that supports long-term recovery and stability for its residents.
