AVB will serve as Construction Manager for Riverbend at Capital, leading preconstruction and construction efforts for this transformative mixed-use development in Battle Creek, Michigan. Located on the former Kmart site along Capital Avenue, the project will redevelop a long-vacant property into an 80-unit affordable and workforce housing community with an accompanying community center that will include an early childhood learning center operated by Bright Light. As the first phase of a broader redevelopment initiative, the project will play an important role in expanding housing opportunities, increasing access to childcare, and supporting continued investment in the surrounding area.

Throughout construction, AVB will coordinate the delivery of a multi-building development while maintaining quality, schedule, and cost objectives across a layered public-private funding structure. The team will oversee trade coordination, site logistics, and project sequencing while collaborating closely with the owner, design team, funding partners, and local stakeholders to keep construction moving efficiently. Riverbend at Capital will also pursue high-performance sustainability goals through energy-efficient construction, renewable energy features, and infrastructure that supports long-term building performance and reduced operating costs. Through disciplined project management and proactive communication, AVB will help deliver a thoughtfully planned development that creates lasting value for residents and the Battle Creek community.
