Bogan Development chose AVB as its construction management team for the new childcare center through a partnership with the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo. The project is located on a 1.4-acre former Brownfield site in Kalamazoo’s Northside neighborhood. This project is a commitment to elevating the local community by offering essential early childhood education services to 30 children daily. Located within the Zone 32 development, it specifically targets the 49007 zip code, recruiting children and educators from the local community.
The new center features an open play area, custom wood furniture and lockers, a private office, cabinet storage, and many windows to let in natural light. This new childcare center positively impacts the whole northside neighborhood in downtown Kalamazoo.
This childcare center was one piece of a mixed-use development that included two buildings with 13 housing units that will serve a portion of the low-income housing needs: two units designed to accommodate 60% Area Median Income (AMI), six units for 80% AMI, and five units are market rate.
