AVB was selected to renovate an existing cardiovascular lab to support the installation of new, state-of-the-art CVL equipment. This renovation required significant structural, mechanical, and electrical updates within an active clinical environment. To accommodate the upgraded equipment, AVB carefully removed existing structural steel and installed new assemblies, saw-cut the floor to place new underground rough-ins, and modified medical gas systems at the pedestal and valve box—along with providing new hose reels in the ceiling. The team also added additional electrical hose reels overhead, provided rough-ins for expanded low-voltage needs, and constructed a new equipment room after determining the existing space exceeded maximum cable length requirements. Interior improvements included the removal and installation of new gasketed ceiling grid, lighting, diffusers, and casework, along with patching and painting of lead-lined walls where required.
This renovation builds on AVB’s long-standing partnership with Ascension Borgess—now part of Beacon Health—a relationship that has included more than $150 million of work on the Kalamazoo campus. These projects have taken place within occupied hospitals where critical medical care is happening just feet away, requiring exceptional coordination and communication. AVB previously constructed the original $105 million Stryker Center, delivering more than 150,000 SF of cardiovascular labs, clinical departments, diagnostic suites, and short-stay areas. We are proud to continue supporting this campus with projects that strengthen access to high-quality care for our community.
Creating long-term, satisfied clients means doing everything right and keeping clients well-informed throughout the project.
